This initiative, spearheaded by the Chhattisgarh Government in partnership with the Government of India, Bastar Police, local authorities, and security forces, seeks to foster peace, promote rehabilitation, and facilitate inclusive development.
Officials hailed this event as another critical stride toward sustainable peace and positive transformation in the region.
The individuals who surrendered comprised various ranks within the organization, including members from the Maad Division DVCM, PLGA Company No. 06 military unit, Area Committee, and others, all of whom expressed a resolute intent to pursue peace and progress.
Notably, three of the surrendering members brought weapons, including an SLR, an INSAS, and a .303 rifle, which were surrendered to the authorities. This gesture underscored their commitment to move away from violence and trust the legal framework.
Narayanpur's Superintendent of Police, Robinson Gudiya, stated that this development marks a total of 287 Maoist members who have surrendered in the district in 2025 alone.
He stressed that the momentum for trust, peace, and development is progressively building. Bastar Range Inspector General of Police, Sundarraj Pattilingam, emphasized that the rehabilitation of these 28 members signifies a decline in the violent Maoist ideology.
In just the past 50 days, over 512 Maoist cadres from across Bastar have opted to reject violence and embrace mainstream society.
He further indicated that remaining Maoist leaders, including Politburo member Devji and Central Committee member Ramdar, will have to follow a similar path.
The rehabilitation event saw participation from senior officials, including Collector Pratishtha Mamgai, SP Robinson Gudiya, and numerous community leaders. The occasion reaffirmed the collective dedication of the government, police, and local communities to lay a solid foundation for peace, trust, and development in Bastar.
