Synopsis
Key Takeaways
The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia on Monday, 13 October 2025, confirmed it is providing comprehensive assistance to Indians affected by the deadly attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, including supporting the family of the deceased Indian national, Mohammed Yousuf Ali, who lost his life in the strike. As many as five people remain in the ICU and two are in the normal ward, while the rest have been discharged.
Status of Injured Indians
Embassy officials have personally visited the hospitals where injured Indian nationals are receiving treatment. According to an update shared by the Mission, three persons were already in the ICU, and two more were subsequently admitted, bringing the total number of critically hospitalised Indians to five. Two additional patients continue to be treated in the normal ward, while the remaining injured have been discharged.
The Embassy stated: 'The Embassy remains in constant touch with their family members and providing all possible support.'
Funeral of Mohammed Yousuf Ali
The family of the late Mohammed Yousuf Ali, who hailed from Hyderabad, has decided to conduct his funeral in Riyadh itself. The Mission is facilitating all formalities related to the burial. His two sons and an aunt were also injured in the same attack.
On Sunday, the Embassy had confirmed his death, posting: 'It is learnt that one Indian national injured in the Riyadh attack has unfortunately lost his life today. We convey our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased. We are in touch with the family and will provide all support for ensuring the early repatriation of mortal remains.'
India Condemns the Attack
On 11 October, India formally condemned the repeated strikes on King Khalid International Airport, calling the attacks 'completely unacceptable.' The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a strong statement: 'We strongly condemn the repeated attacks on Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport over the past few days, including the dastardly attack on October 10, which have led to loss of lives, injuries and damage to property.'
The MEA added: 'We stand in solidarity with the people and the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in defence of their sovereignty, and hope that peace and normalcy returns to the region at the earliest.'
Scale of the Attack
Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation confirmed on 10 October that the attack on the airport killed 12 people and injured 309 others. The assault targeted civilian aviation infrastructure in the Saudi capital, drawing widespread international condemnation. This is the latest in what Indian officials described as 'repeated attacks' on the facility over the past several days, underlining the escalating threat to civilian life and infrastructure in the region.
With the Embassy maintaining round-the-clock contact with affected families and Indian authorities monitoring the situation closely, further updates on the condition of hospitalised nationals are expected in the coming days.
