Indiramma Towers: 8,000 flats across 16 Hyderabad constituencies via lucky draw
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Telangana Minister for Revenue and Housing Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Friday, 28 August stated that the selection of beneficiaries for Indiramma Towers in the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) area of Greater Hyderabad is being conducted with complete transparency, with lucky draws held live before media and eligible applicants.
Lucky Draw Process and Scale
Lucky draws for approximately 8,000 flats across 16 Assembly constituencies are being conducted from 28 August through 31 August, proceeding at a rate of four constituencies per day. On Friday, draws were held for the Nampally, Quthbullapur, Secunderabad, and Rajendranagar Assembly constituencies.
For each constituency, 600 beneficiaries are being selected via lucky draw for 480 available flats. Following the draw, officials will conduct a field verification; if any selected individuals are found ineligible, the opportunity passes to eligible candidates from the remaining pool of 120. The minister emphasised that eligibility — not caste, religion, or political affiliation — is the sole criterion for selection.
What Beneficiaries Will Receive
Each allotted unit will measure approximately 525 square feet and include an undivided land share of 17 to 20 square yards. The towers — rising up to 10 floors depending on site requirements — will be built on government-identified land and equipped with lifts and essential infrastructure.
Registration for allotted homes will be carried out at no cost to beneficiaries. After 10 years, beneficiaries will have the option to sell the unit. Should an urgent financial need arise before that period, beneficiaries may pledge the registration document with a bank to secure a loan, the minister clarified.
Project Background and Foundation
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for Indiramma Towers at KPHB Colony in Kukatpally on 13 August. The state government subsequently invited tenders for construction across all 16 constituencies in what officials described as record time, running the tender process simultaneously with the beneficiary selection.
The minister noted that land identification for four additional Assembly constituencies has been completed, and applications for Indiramma houses in those areas will be accepted until 3 September. Construction is expected to commence within 3–4 days of final beneficiary certification, with beneficiaries given the opportunity to personally monitor progress on their units.
Broader Housing Push Under CURE
The Indiramma Towers project forms part of a larger state housing drive. The government is targeting 1 lakh houses in the first phase under the CURE initiative in Greater Hyderabad. Across the state, 4.50 lakh Indiramma houses were sanctioned in the first phase during the Congress government's first year in office, of which construction of over 2 lakh units has already been completed.
The state is providing financial assistance of ₹5 lakh per house in four instalments, with payments for the final instalment already under way. A second phase covering an additional 2.50 lakh houses has been sanctioned, and beneficiary selection for that phase is reportedly expected to conclude within the next 10 days.
Minister Srinivas Reddy underscored the government's intent to extend urban housing to the poorest residents, noting that beneficiaries would receive homes in areas where land is valued at ₹100 crore, ₹200 crore, or even ₹300 crore per acre — framing the project as a matter of dignity for low-income families.
