Jammu, May 30 (NationPress) The J&K Police announced on Friday that they have filed an FIR against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA, Ashraf Malik, for accusations of defamation, criminal intimidation, and insulting the modesty of a female doctor in Doda district.
The FIR was registered following a complaint from an associate professor at the local medical college, who alleged that the MLA utilized social media to issue public threats and make abusive, gender-biased, and derogatory remarks directed at her.
The doctor reported to the Doda police station, claiming she faced criminal intimidation, gender abuse, and threats to the hospital's safety from the MLA.
"In a series of profoundly disturbing events, Malik has leveraged social media to issue threats and produce abusive, gendered, and derogatory statements against me. Phrases like ‘ghaseetunga’ (will drag you) and ‘will strip you naked’ have been openly and maliciously used. These are not just words; they are direct threats to my dignity, safety, and professional integrity as a female doctor serving in a government hospital. These statements clearly outrage the modesty of a female public servant, especially on social media,” she stated in her complaint.
The complainant urged the police to take action regarding her claim that the accused repeatedly used derogatory language about her in his social media live broadcasts.
“What is even more distressing is his remark, ‘This hospital doesn't belong to your father’, a comment that not only shows arrogance but also a lack of sensitivity, given that my father passed away over 12 years ago,” she mentioned.
Reportedly, the MLA entered the labor room without permission, accompanied by associates and broadcasting live on social media.
“This is a serious breach of patient privacy, particularly for female staff and patients in vulnerable conditions, and poses a direct threat to the security and ethical environment of our hospital. His repeated actions are profoundly distressing for both staff and patients,” she added.
Malik has previously been embroiled in controversy for his alleged use of offensive language. On March 17, a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against him by the special excise mobile magistrate court in Jammu due to a case initiated by former minister Ghulam Mohammad Saroori for allegedly making false statements.
The first-time MLA has been active in addressing public issues within his constituency, frequently visiting various developmental sites to suggest improvements. However, his ongoing public outbursts against government employees are damaging his image.
