New Delhi, Nov 17 (NationPress) Celebrating her birthday, Anuya Prasad and her teammate Pranjali Prashant Dhumal achieved a remarkable 1-2 finish for India in the 10m Air Pistol event at the 25th Summer Deaflympics currently taking place in Tokyo, Japan, on Monday.
Anuya Prasad set a new Deaflympics final World Record while clinching the gold medal, with Pranjali breaking the qualification world record to advance to the final. Abhinav Deswal, who matched the qualification world record, secured silver in the men’s category, bringing India’s shooting medal tally to seven after just two days of events.
In the final, Anuya scored 52.5 in her first series and maintained her lead throughout, ultimately winning gold with a final score of 241.1, surpassing Pranjali by 4.3 points, who finished with 236.8. Mahla Samiee from Iran earned the bronze medal. During qualification, Pranjali broke her previous World and Deaflympics records, finishing with a score of 572-12x, surpassing the previous records of 568 and 561.
In the men’s competition, Abhinav secured a silver medal with a score of 235.2, while Tae Young Kim from Korea took gold with a score of 238.2. Boris Gramnyak from Croatia won bronze with 215.3. Abhinav also equaled the world and Deaflympics record in qualification, achieving a score of 576. Another Indian participant, Rudar Vinod Kumar, finished in 12th place with a score of 549.
