Los Angeles, Oct 23 (NationPress) The iconic American hard rock band Guns N' Roses has provided clarity regarding their frontman Axl Rose's unusual conduct during a performance in Argentina.
The band stated that Axl's behavior was not influenced by the performance of their new drummer Isaac Carpenter, according to reports from Female First UK.
During a tumultuous concert at Estadio Huracan in Buenos Aires on Saturday, Axl Rose dramatically threw his microphone and kicked over Isaac's drum kit.
While performing their opening track, ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, Axl was seen appearing agitated. In viral clips, he could be seen tossing his microphone towards the drum kit, kicking the kick drum, and leaving the stage in frustration.
He briefly addressed the audience, stating, “So, I’ll just try and wing this.” Following the incident, the band clarified that the 63-year-old singer was having issues only hearing the drum mix through his in-ear monitor, emphasizing that he had no issues with Isaac, whom they called a “top notch” drummer.
The band’s official statement shared via their Instagram Story explained, “During the opening song at our recent Buenos Aires concert, Axl’s in-ear monitor pack had only the percussion in his ears versus the entire mix. The issue was resolved by our tech by the third song, leading to a great night. This incident was unrelated to Isaac Carpenter's performance, who is a remarkable musician.”
Earlier this year, Guns N' Roses parted ways with longtime drummer Frank Ferrer, who had been with the band for nearly two decades. Frank joined the band in June 2006, succeeding Bryan Mantia, and his final performance was in November 2023.
Currently, the band's lineup includes frontman Axl, alongside Slash, Duff McKagan, Dizzy Reed, Richard Fortus, Melissa Reese, and Isaac. The official statement noted that Frank's departure was amicable, though he later expressed disappointment regarding the conclusion of his time with the band.
