“I am deeply troubled by the heartbreaking accident involving a bus filled with Indian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia. My sincere prayers are with all those impacted, particularly the families from Hyderabad who were affected by this unfortunate event,” Azharuddin stated in a message on X.
The minister noted that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy swiftly ordered officials to collect complete information and liaise with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Saudi Embassy to ensure that all necessary support and relief are provided promptly.
“A dedicated control room has been established to aid families and closely monitor the situation: 79979 59754; 99129 19545. We stand by the families during this challenging time and will offer every possible assistance through the Minority Welfare Department, Govt of Telangana,” Azharuddin added.
Additionally, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao expressed his dismay regarding the incident.
“The loss of numerous pilgrims from Hyderabad in this tragic bus accident in Saudi Arabia is profoundly saddening. We extend our deepest condolences to their families,” he remarked.
The former minister urged the state government to act promptly in providing better medical care for those injured in the accident, which involved a collision between a bus and a diesel tanker while traveling from Mecca to Medina.
Given that many of the deceased are from Hyderabad, the state government should work closely with the Ministry of External Affairs to enhance relief efforts, KTR emphasized.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic bus accident in Saudi Arabia that resulted in the deaths of 42 Umrah pilgrims, including several from Telangana. My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving families. I urge both the Telangana Government and the Government of India to provide all possible support to the victims’ families and ensure they receive appropriate assistance,” stated another BRS leader, T. Harish Rao.
“It is shocking to learn that at least 42 Indian Umrah pilgrims, many from Hyderabad, are feared dead after their bus from Mecca to Madina collided with a diesel tanker,” wrote Telangana Jagruthi leader K. Kavitha.
She called on the Union Government, particularly External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, to promptly coordinate with Saudi authorities to ensure all possible support and aid for the victims’ families.
