Kolkata, Nov 20 (NationPress) Samudra Bose, the offspring of West Bengal Fire Minister Sujit Bose, failed to show up before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials on Thursday regarding the municipal recruitment corruption case.
Sources indicate that he has been requested to appear for questioning on a different date.
It's important to mention that Sujit Bose's wife, who was also called by the central investigative body in connection with the same case, did not report to the officers on Wednesday.
She submitted a letter to the ED stating personal reasons for her absence.
As per ED sources, Samudra did not visit the ED office located at CGO Complex in the Salt Lake area of Kolkata on Thursday.
He claimed to have personal commitments.
Meanwhile, Sujit Bose's daughter, Mohini Bose, attended the ED office on Tuesday concerning the same municipal recruitment corruption case.
She arrived at the office with relevant documents.
Last Monday, the ED also summoned her husband, the son-in-law of the state minister, for questioning.
He was present at the CGO complex.
A source revealed that Mohini separated from her husband, Rahul Singh, a few months back.
The family of the Minister's son-in-law is also engaged in business.
The ED called him in to investigate if funds from the corruption were funneled into those businesses.
ED sources disclosed that numerous documents pertaining to substantial financial transactions in the municipal recruitment scam have recently been acquired by investigators.
The central agency collected these documents through searches in various locations across the state.
After examining several documents, bank transaction records, and electronic data retrieved during the searches, it is believed that money from this recruitment scam was utilized in multiple businesses owned by the Minister's family.
To verify this information, ED agents have summoned Sujit Bose's family members consecutively.
The ED has been investigating the municipal recruitment scam for an extended period.
Following these investigations, Sujit Bose's name has emerged in the case, with allegations of his involvement in the recruitment corruption within the South Dum Dum municipality.
In October this year, ED officials conducted another raid on the Minister’s office.
The ED visited Sujit Bose's office in Kolkata's Salt Lake, a lawyer's residence in New Alipore, and a residence in Nagerbazar, along with the home of Councillor Nitai Dutta.
During that search, several crucial diaries, digital records, transaction documents, and details related to suspicious financial dealings were uncovered.
