Who are the co-captains of Bengaluru Bravehearts in Rugby Premier League?

Mumbai, June 13 (NationPress) Scott Curry, the renowned Kiwi rugby star, and Pol Pla Vegue, the esteemed captain of Spain, have been appointed as co-captains of the Bengaluru Bravehearts for the forthcoming Rugby Premier League, which kicks off on June 15 at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai.

The Rugby Premier League is recognized as the world’s first franchise-based international league, where legends of international rugby will compete alongside some of the finest homegrown talents from India.

“We are thrilled about the upcoming Rugby Premier League and the chance to lead the Bengaluru Bravehearts in this inaugural season is a significant responsibility we eagerly anticipate. Our roster includes prominent figures from global rugby as well as exceptional Indian players, and we cannot wait to commence our campaign,” stated both Curry and Vegue following their selection as co-captains.

Each co-captain brings a wealth of experience to the franchise, having previously led top teams worldwide, aiming to guide the Bengaluru Bravehearts to a successful debut in the Rugby Premier League. Curry is acclaimed as one of the premier open-field runners in rugby sevens and has captained the legendary New Zealand squad, famously known as the All Blacks Sevens. He led the team to an Olympic silver medal during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, marking New Zealand’s first-ever medal in rugby sevens at the Olympics.

Vegue, who serves as the captain of Spain’s Rugby 7s team and holds the record for the most tries in the history of the World Rugby Sevens Series, has steered Spain to numerous accolades.

The Bengaluru Bravehearts’ squad features notable players such as Tone Ng Shiu, Mohit Khatri, Iowane Teba, and Liam Poulton, among others. The complete roster includes Scott Curry, Pol Pla Vegue, Tone Ng Shiu, Suresh Kumar, Iowane Teba, Mak Chung, Akila Rokolisoa, Liam Poulton, Mohit Khatri, Arpan Chettri, Karan Rajbhar, and Prashant Singh. The team is under the expert guidance of the legendary Francisco ‘Paco’ Hernandez.

The Bengaluru Bravehearts will commence their journey against the Delhi Redz in their opening match of the league on June 15.
