Imphal, April 12 (NationPress) BJP leader and senior party MLA Tongbram Robindro Singh stated on Saturday that the Central High Command, in alignment with the state party legislators, will select the next Chief Minister, adhering to party traditions.

Singh, who represents the Thanga Assembly Constituency in Bishnupur district, affirmed that the BJP's state legislators would endorse whoever the party's High Command designates for the Chief Ministerial role.

"In the BJP, the appointment of the Chief Minister is not solely a decision made by the MLAs but also includes the Central High Command, as per party tradition," the 53-year-old MLA remarked to the media.

When questioned about his previous comments suggesting that former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh might reclaim his position, he clarified that he had made no such assertion.

"The determination regarding the Chief Minister's return is not within my jurisdiction. It seems the media has misquoted me," he explained.

In response to inquiries concerning potential internal disagreements among BJP MLAs that could delay the formation of a new government, Robindro Singh indicated that while individual MLAs may hold personal views, the party's fundamental ideology remains cohesive.

"The choice of the next leader is entirely under the authority of the party’s Central High Command. There is no division among BJP legislators, nor any incapacity to select a legislature party leader. We stand united. We will not permit the division of Manipur and are collectively committed to preserving the state's territorial integrity," he stated.

He expressed assurance that the Central leadership would appoint a new leader following thorough discussions, resulting in the establishment of a popular and stable government in the state.

Robindro Singh praised the Home Ministry’s initiative to engage Meitei and Kuki-Zo-Hmar Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in negotiations, deeming it a commendable effort towards restoring peace and normalcy in the state.

He expressed optimism that subsequent dialogues between the CSOs of both communities would prompt the Central government to soon facilitate talks between Meitei and Kuki-Zo-Hmar MLAs as well.

"In light of the unfortunate events between the two communities, I believe that discussions among the MLAs would greatly aid in restoring peace in the region," he remarked, adding that there has been significant improvement in law and order.

Robindro Singh affirmed: "We have strong faith that the Centre will establish a new government at the earliest."
