Bomb Threat Emails Spark High Alert in Barmer and Nagaur Courts
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, March 9 (NationPress) The court facilities in the Barmer and Nagaur districts of Rajasthan were placed on heightened alert following the receipt of bomb threat emails on Monday. Authorities acted promptly by evacuating the court buildings and initiating thorough searches with the assistance of bomb disposal units and canine squads. Officials indicated that the threatening messages sent to both locations contained the same alarming content.
The email referenced the notorious terrorist Ajmal Kasab and ominously warned of a potential explosion before 1 PM. It stated: “I don't know the exact time of the blast, probably before 1 PM. Don't take any chances. This is not a fake threat. Some bombs were dropped by drones. The exact location is unknown, but check the rooftops.”
A bomb threat email addressed to the District Judge's official email account triggered widespread panic at the Barmer court on Monday morning. In a swift response, police evacuated the premises and commenced a search operation.
Superintendent of Police Narendra Singh Meena arrived at the scene alongside senior officials, while bomb disposal teams and dog units were deployed to meticulously investigate the area.
Security measures were significantly enhanced in and around the court complex as a precaution. Investigations are underway to trace the origin of the email and identify its sender.
Cybersecurity experts are also assisting with the investigation. Notably, the Barmer Collectorate had received a bomb threat previously on December 25, 2025.
Additionally, the Merta District Judge (DJ) Court in Nagaur was evacuated after a similar threatening email was received late Sunday night, around 10:20 PM.
In response to this alert, bomb disposal squads and police teams hurried to the location to conduct a comprehensive examination of the area.
Intelligence agencies, including the Intelligence Bureau (IB), have initiated inquiries into the threat. The court complex was temporarily sealed, and security in the vicinity was significantly bolstered. Officials indicated that this marks the second bomb threat in the district within a week. Police in both districts have issued a high alert and enhanced security protocols at the court complexes.
Dog squads, bomb disposal teams, and additional police personnel have been deployed, with an increase in surveillance in surrounding areas.
Officials affirmed that all necessary precautions are being taken to avert any untoward incidents and to ensure the safety of court personnel, attorneys, and visitors.
