Gorakhpur, Oct 1 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, upheld the cherished tradition of Gorakshpeeth by performing Kanya Pujan at the Gorakhnath Temple during the auspicious Maha Navami of Shardiya Navratri. He paid homage to the Matri Shakti by honoring nine girls, each representing a form of the Goddess Durga.
This annual ritual reflects his unwavering faith in the strength of women and his dedication to enhancing their dignity, safety, and empowerment. The Chief Minister has made significant strides in this direction through various women-focused initiatives.
During the ceremonial Kanya Pujan, CM Yogi washed the feet of the nine girls, conducted worship rituals, adorned them with a chunari, performed aarti, served them meals with reverence, and sought their blessings by presenting them with gifts. Additionally, he participated in Batuk Pujan, honoring young boys.
He also performed worship for a six-month-old baby girl to receive her blessings. In a meaningful act, he applied a tilak to a boy dressed as Hanuman, garlanding him and draping a cloth over his shoulders.
After the rituals, CM Yogi distributed freshly prepared prasadam to the girls and boys. Alongside the nine girls, he also conducted aarti for the numerous younger girls and boys present, who were all graciously given gifts and dakshina.
Following the rituals, the Chief Minister warmly interacted with the children while serving food, ensuring that all devotees were well-catered for. Notably, Jagadguru Swami Santoshacharya, often referred to as Satua Baba from Kashi, was in attendance.
Prior to the Kanya Pujan, CM Yogi worshiped Goddess Siddhidatri at the temple’s Shaktipeeth during the morning puja session.
