New Delhi, Nov 11 (NationPress) Following the tragic explosion near the historic Red Fort in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed her condolences on Tuesday, labeling it as an extremely regrettable event. She emphasized that all relevant agencies are diligently executing their responsibilities.
During a press briefing, the Chief Minister remarked: “This incident is indeed unfortunate. All relevant agencies are fully engaged in their duties. We visited the hospital to meet with those injured yesterday.”
“The government stands firmly with the victims and is committed to ensuring that they and their families do not encounter any hardships,” she added.
In the meantime, the Home Ministry has assigned the investigation of the Delhi blast to the National Investigative Agency (NIA).
The incident took place on Monday evening when a car registered in Haryana exploded near Gate No.1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, resulting in the deaths of at least eight individuals and injuring many others.
The NIA was tasked with the case after Union Home Minister Amit Shah assessed the investigation and the extensive searches ongoing in connection with the blast, reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to bringing the offenders to justice.
During a meeting with top security personnel at his residence, HM Shah instructed officials to thoroughly investigate the conspiracy promptly.
The meeting included Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Kumar Deka, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha, and NIA Director General Sadanand Vasant Date, while Jammu and Kashmir DGP Nalin Prabhat participated virtually.
A task force of over 500 security personnel has been assembled to probe the explosion, and security measures have been intensified throughout the Delhi-NCR region, with NSG commandos deployed at essential locations.
Authorities are reviewing over 1,000 CCTV footage clips, suspecting that the car explosion may have been a suicide attack aimed at maximizing damage, as per sources from the Delhi Police.
Investigative teams are also scrutinizing social media interactions and gathering mobile phone dump data from various sites across Delhi.
According to police sources, data is being extracted from all mobile devices active in and around the Red Fort vicinity, which might assist in identifying phone numbers and communication links associated with the car explosion.
