New Delhi, Sep 18 (NationPress) In her pledge to transform Delhi into a model state, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday inaugurated 502 upgraded Anganwadi-cum-creches aimed at supporting working women, alongside announcing collateral-free loans of up to Rs 10 crore for women entrepreneurs in the MSME sector.
"Our vision is for Delhi to become a beacon for other states to emulate," stated the CM, as she revealed that the government has rebranded day care centre employees as 'Mausis'.
"There will no longer be Anganwadi workers; they will be referred to as 'Mausis', who will nurture children as if they were their own sisters' kids," CM Gupta elaborated.
These Anganwadi and creche staff will now be recognized by the affectionate title of 'Mausi', which embodies love, care, and nurturing, she noted.
CM Gupta highlighted that the 502 Anganwadi-cum-creches would provide daycare services for working women's children, allowing them to focus on their jobs during the day.
In a message posted on X, she mentioned, "The launch of 502 Palna Anganwadi-cum-Creche centres in Delhi marks a significant positive change for working mothers. These centres ensure nutrition and care for young children, enabling mothers to pursue their aspirations while managing their responsibilities peacefully."
"As part of the Seva Pakhwada, coinciding with the birthday of our esteemed Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji, this invaluable initiative is a gift for mothers in Delhi. These 502 centres will be a cornerstone for the nutrition and care of young children, supporting working mothers in balancing their jobs and responsibilities," she added.
Discussing an upcoming initiative for the MSME sector, the Chief Minister remarked, "Under this scheme, women entrepreneurs will be eligible for loans of up to 10 crore rupees from the government without any collateral or conditions. This initiative will empower them to establish their own businesses and achieve independence."
She emphasized that this move would bolster women's entrepreneurial spirit and self-employment.
"The Rs 10 crore will be granted based solely on the government's guarantee," she stated.
Earlier, the CM announced the Delhi government's commitment to converting the entire public transport fleet to electric.
In her post on X, CM Gupta noted, "Today, I attended the 26th SAFE Annual Convention 2025 and the 3rd Edition of SIAM Green Plate EV Rally at the India Mandapam. The Delhi government is resolutely working towards making the capital clean, green, and future-ready. Events like the EV rally help raise public awareness and engage citizens in this transformative journey."
"Our clear goal is to ensure that by 2026, Delhi's public transport will be entirely electric. This initiative will not only cut down pollution but also enhance the quality of life for millions of residents, making it healthier, safer, and more convenient," she concluded on X.
