Bhopal, March 13 (NationPress) In a disturbing event, a dog was seen carrying the lifeless body of a newborn in its mouth in the town of Rewa. The police have narrowed their investigation to the Beehar river cremation site, a location where infants and newborns are frequently interred.

According to a senior police official in Rewa, the post-mortem report is awaited for further clarity on the case.

The officer mentioned that the infant's precise age and gender are still unknown, as the lower limbs beneath the torso were missing. Due to the Holi holiday, the post-mortem might be postponed by two days.

The police are committed to thoroughly investigating the case to eliminate the possibility of foeticide. This unsettling occurrence has attracted widespread attention.

A video capturing the event, reportedly from Tuesday night in Kabadi Mohalla under the Civil Line Police Station, has gone viral on social media.

Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity and interrogating nearby residents. Within a 2-km radius of the incident, four private nursing homes are under scrutiny, as revealed by the police officer.

The police are also monitoring the dog's movements closely. The remains of the newborn have been sent to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

On February 20, half of a newborn girl's body, attacked by dogs, was discovered in Kulaura village under Semaria Police Station in Rewa. Part of her leg was also missing.

Just days later, on February 25, another newborn's body was located at the new bus stand in Rewa.

Previously, a newborn girl's body was similarly assaulted by dogs at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital.
