Palampur, Nov 18 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, during his visit to Palampur in the Kangra district on Tuesday, inaugurated the groundwork for a heliport with a budget allocation of Rs 19.77 crore.
This new heliport will include a passenger terminal building, a fire station, a utility building, and other essential amenities for travelers.
While addressing attendees after the ceremony, the Chief Minister mentioned that the heliport is expected to be operational by April next year, allowing affordable helicopter services to Chandigarh and Shimla.
He also stated that the state government is working on several development initiatives for the Kangra district.
“A proposal has been drafted to create a tourism village in Palampur, but certain individuals, influenced by their ties to the BJP, have taken legal action to halt this initiative,” he remarked.
He assured that efforts are being made to overcome these challenges.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government's dedication to establishing Kangra district as the tourism hub of the state to create new economic opportunities for the local population.
Earlier, he visited the community health center (CHC) at Gopalpur, interacting with both patients and healthcare staff.
He announced a budget of Rs 3,000 crore to improve healthcare facilities, from medical colleges to various hospitals across the state.
New advanced medical equipment is being installed in hospitals to guarantee quality healthcare services for residents of Himachal Pradesh, he added.
MLA Ashish Butail welcomed the Chief Minister and noted that he would soon return to dedicate projects valued at approximately Rs 300 crore.
He further mentioned that Chief Minister Sukhu has assured funding for constructing a new building at the CHC, along with provisions for a digital X-ray facility and an ambulance.
