Itanagar, Feb 3 (NationPress) The five-day Joint Military-Civil trek to Topo Gonov culminated in a formal Flag-in ceremony, signifying the triumphant finish of a groundbreaking initiative that epitomized robust military–civil collaboration, community engagement, and the essence of national unity, according to officials.

Defence Spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat announced on Monday that the event, hosted by the Spearhead Division of the Indian Army from January 28 to February 1, 2026, concluded with a formal Flag-In Ceremony, marking a significant milestone that represented strong military–civil collaboration, community partnership, and national unity.

Members of the Indian Army and local civilians embarked on a trek together to the revered heights of Topo Gonov, retracing ancient paths and rejuvenating centuries-old cultural and spiritual connections deeply rooted in the region's heritage, he added.

This expedition demonstrated the united determination of both military personnel and civilians to honor history while fortifying unity and a shared national mission.

The Spokesman mentioned that the trek emphasized the rich tribal heritage and historical significance of the area, reinforcing respect for local traditions, customs, and identities.

Facing challenging high-altitude conditions, participants exhibited remarkable endurance, discipline, and teamwork, embodying the values of resilience and camaraderie.

The joint experience provided a significant platform for interaction, allowing soldiers and civilians to cultivate trust, understanding, and mutual respect.

Topo Gonov, esteemed as a sacred site by the local populace, represents ancestral continuity and cultural pride.

This initiative also inspired youth to reconnect with their roots and recognize the significance of preserving their heritage for future generations, Lieutenant Colonel Rawat stated.

He noted that the Indian Army executed detailed planning, coordination, and logistics for the expedition, including route reconnaissance, safety measures, medical support, and logistical assistance, ensuring that the Military–Civil Trek was carried out with professionalism, dignity, and accuracy.

The successful execution of the trek highlights the Indian Army's dedication to constructive community involvement, nation-building, and fostering harmony in border regions.
