Islamabad, April 20 (NationPress) Frustrated by a tailor's persistent failure to complete his order for a family event, a resident from Karachi has escalated the matter to the legal system, demanding a significant amount in damages, according to reports.
The individual, who entrusted the tailor with fabric to create a stylish outfit for his brother's engagement, has filed a complaint in a consumer protection court in the coastal city, stating that despite the tailor's assurances and his numerous visits to the shop, the work remains unfinished, as reported by The News.
This Karachi resident, whose identity has not been disclosed, is seeking Rs 100,000 in compensation, which includes Rs 50,000 as a penalty for the unmet promise and an additional Rs 50,000 for the emotional distress caused by the incomplete work.
He further expressed that the tailor's inaction compelled him to buy alternative clothing for his brother's engagement ceremony.
Details reveal that the complainant provided the tailor with fabric for intricate Balochi embroidery on three separate occasions in December 2024 and January 2025, along with an advance payment. The tailor assured that the finished garments would be ready before February 20, the date of the engagement.
However, after multiple visits to the shop, the man discovered that no progress had been made on his order.
When he attempted to collect the garments on February 10, the tailor informed him that the work had not been completed, citing a shortage of workers as the cause.
Despite his daily visits to verify the status of his order, he found that the clothes remained untouched, forcing him to incur additional expenses for a new outfit for the family celebration.
