Mumbai, Sep 18 (NationPress) The Maharashtra School Education Department along with Cambridge University Press and Assessment India formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and quality of teacher education across the state. The MoU was endorsed in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who emphasized that Maharashtra is home to a vast number of students and educators. He expressed his optimism that this partnership will mark a significant milestone in realizing world-class school education in the state.
CM Fadnavis stated that Maharashtra is embarking on a journey towards achieving the global educational standards promised by the Prime Minister through the National Education Policy. This collaboration will merge Cambridge’s educational expertise with the state's system, fostering an enriching learning environment for students. He highlighted that students will greatly benefit from the effective practices developed by Cambridge in the educational sphere.
“While we have signed the MoU today, this is just the beginning, and there lies a considerable journey ahead. We will be partners with Cambridge in this endeavor, and I will personally oversee the MoU's implementation,” he remarked.
State Minister for School Education, Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar, described the MoU as a historic advancement in school education. “Maharashtra is consistently setting new standards in governance, infrastructure, and innovative initiatives. This MoU is a step towards achieving world-class education standards, shaping the future of students and guiding innovative and leadership-oriented youth,” he stated.
Minister Bhoyar also noted that this educational partnership will focus on climate education, curriculum improvements, provision of library resources, teacher capacity building, and open schooling initiatives. He clarified that this initiative extends beyond mere academic performance, aiming to equip students with confidence, skills, and readiness for the global landscape.
“Maharashtra will spearhead the nation in education, aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he added.
As per the government’s announcement, the MoU emphasizes the importance of continuous professional development for educators under the New Education Policy. It aims to uplift the quality of teaching and enhance student outcomes.
