In his address, PM Modi likened India's national song 'Vande Mataram' to Ethiopia's anthem, emphasizing the importance of pride in heritage and culture while safeguarding the motherland.
"Embracing the mantra 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayaas', which signifies collective growth, trust, and effort, our sentiments towards our motherland reflect our intertwined destinies," PM Modi stated.
The Prime Minister noted that scientific research has traced some of humanity's earliest origins back to Ethiopia.
"When discussions arise about 'Lucy of Dinkinesh', it transcends mere fossils; it signifies a shared beginning that unites us all, whether in Addis Ababa or Ayodhya. In India, we embrace 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', meaning 'The world is one family'. This philosophy reminds us that beyond politics and borders, we share a common origin. If our beginnings are united, then our destinies must align as well," he continued.
PM Modi expressed his joy after engaging with Ethiopian ministers and MPs following his parliamentary address.
He also laid a wreath at the Adwa Victory Monument in Addis Ababa and visited the Adwa Museum, where officials provided insights into the history of this remarkable African nation.
During his visit, PM Modi was honored with Ethiopia's highest civilian award, the 'Great Honour Nishan of Ethiopia', expressing deep gratitude to the Ethiopian government and its people.
