Gandhinagar, Jan 16 (NationPress) The Navsari Municipal Corporation has unveiled a significant investment of Rs 112 crore aimed at establishing a new drainage system and water supply network to tackle enduring issues of blocked drains and inconsistent water availability.

This ambitious Rs 112 crore project marks one of the initial major undertakings by the Navsari Municipal Corporation, which was officially formed on January 1, 2025, incorporating the previous Navsari Vijalpore Municipality area along with four neighboring villages: Eru, Dharagiri, Dantej, and Hansapore.

These peripheral regions have been grappling with persistent challenges concerning access to clean drinking water and the absence of adequate drainage facilities.

In order to resolve these pressing issues, the Navsari Municipal Corporation has commenced the development of a new water and drainage system in these locales, with an estimated expenditure of Rs 112 crore.

The corporation plans to enhance infrastructure in a phased approach, which includes the installation of new water supply and drainage pipelines, overhead water tanks, underground sumps, drainage pumping stations, sewage treatment facilities, and new water treatment plants.

These advancements are set to benefit over 25,000 residents by addressing longstanding issues related to drinking water access and wastewater management. This initiative is anticipated to significantly decrease health-related challenges in the area, particularly among younger populations.

The implementation of the new water supply and drainage system in Navsari will not only bolster civic infrastructure but also represent a pivotal move towards creating a cleaner, safer, and more modern urban environment.

The four villages integrated into the Navsari Municipal Corporation's jurisdiction will also benefit from improved roads, enhanced street lighting, new drainage systems, parks, ponds, a civic center, and dustbin distribution to promote cleanliness.

Navsari Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dev Chaudhary stated that "In the new year, we are dedicated to enhancing essential civic services, such as drainage, roads, stormwater management, and water supply. A comprehensive plan has been devised to establish complete drainage, water, and stormwater systems in the recently merged villages of the city.”

"The initial phase will focus on the construction of drainage systems and water supply. This project is progressing on schedule and is set to provide relief to residents while improving their overall quality of life," he added.
