New York, April 14 (NationPress) Pop icon Nick Jonas opened up about experiencing stage fright while taking the stage for “The Last Five Years” on Broadway.

During the premiere of his new musical at the Hudson Theatre in New York, Nick mentioned that although he feels at ease performing for family, it’s an entirely different experience when entertaining theater aficionados, as reported by people.com.

"For me, the challenge lies in the audience, which includes many who cherish this show and have played these roles in various productions, whether in high school or college. It’s those individuals who have performed that make me feel most intimidated,” he shared.

Nick continued, "Yet, the essence of storytelling and being a creative artist is about taking significant risks and exposing oneself. I truly enjoy it.”

“Despite the occasional intimidation, it’s incredibly rewarding to get out there and take bold risks to see what unfolds,” he remarked.

In ‘The Last Five Years,’ a two-person musical by Jason Robert Brown, this marks its inaugural Broadway production, featuring Nick alongside Tony Award winner Adrienne Warren. The narrative delves into the relationship between aspiring novelist Jamie Wellerstein and struggling actress Cathy Hiatt, presented from their individual viewpoints across two distinct timelines.

Nick shared that one of his favorite moments in the show is when his co-star Warren performs the song “Summer in Ohio.”

"She injects so much humor into this number. I believe she is able to showcase her diverse talents, blending musical theater with the soulful quality of her vocals. It’s an astonishing performance,” he commented.

Regarding his character, Nick expressed his enjoyment of singing “A Miracle Would Happen,” stating, "It’s a humorous yet very relatable situation that many people face, and it’s a fun one.”
