Hazaribagh, July 3 (NationPress) The Jharkhand Police have apprehended nine individuals associated with the infamous Uttam Yadav gang following a brazen shooting incident at a jewellery store in Hazaribagh on June 22. These individuals were also implicated in making threats against local business owners, according to police reports.
The arrests occurred on Thursday as the gang was reportedly plotting another significant crime in the city.
In the aftermath of the shooting, gang leader Uttam Yadav posted a video on social media, taking responsibility for the attack. This incident caused widespread panic among Hazaribagh’s business community, leading to a temporary market closure and a candlelight vigil organized by local merchants.
As per Hazaribagh Superintendent of Police Anjani Anjan, law enforcement received intelligence about gang members armed and moving through the city on a black motorcycle and an SUV, preparing for a second attack.
A specialized team was assembled, and a checkpoint was established near Carmel School. When the two vehicles were spotted and instructed to halt, the suspects attempted to escape but were apprehended following a brief pursuit, resulting in the detention of seven youths.
During questioning, it emerged that all apprehended individuals were operating under Uttam Yadav’s directives. One of those arrested, Shakti Giri alias Psycho Tiger from Pathalgadda in Chatra, was identified as the shooter at the jewellery store.
Based on their confessions, police subsequently arrested two additional gang members from Karamtoli in Ranchi.
Police seized two firearms (9mm and 7.65mm), eight live cartridges, and several mobile devices used for coordinating their criminal activities.
The arrested individuals include: Manish Yadav (Belwadih, Chatra), Mukesh Kumar Soni (Bazar Tand, Chatra), Rahul Kumar Verma (Gidhaur, Chatra), Shubham Agarwal, Golu Kumar (Kesari Chowk, Chatra), Ravi Roshan, Nitish Kumar (Barkatha, Hazaribagh), Badal Kumar Singh (Chauparan block), and Shakti Giri alias Psycho Tiger.
All individuals are aged between 18 and 25 years.
Following the arrests, police conducted a public display of the suspects throughout the streets of Hazaribagh.
SP Anjan stated, "Those attempting to instill fear through weapons in Hazaribagh will face strict action. No one will be permitted to disrupt the peace of this city."
