The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust on Wednesday made a series of landmark appointments, naming Air Marshal (Retd) Jeetendra Mishra as the first-ever Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the temple body in Ayodhya. The Trust also elevated Swami Govind Dev Giri as General Secretary and inducted Mahesh Bhagchandka, Madan Mohan Pandey, and Nirmala Yadav as new trustees, filling three vacant positions within the organisation.

New Trustee's Priority: Devotee Convenience

Newly appointed trustee Madan Mohan Pandey, speaking a day after his appointment, said his foremost focus would be the welfare of pilgrims. 'Our priority will be to look after the convenience of devotees who come to offer prayers at the temple,' he said. He added: 'After being inducted into the Trust, we will work towards the upliftment of the Ram Temple, as much as possible.'

Pandey, an advocate by profession, brings decades of legal association with the Ram Janmabhoomi movement to his new role. He recalled that while his connection to the cause dates to its earliest days, the formal vakalatnama was filed in 1994 on behalf of Mahant Paramhans Ramchandra Das. He subsequently appeared before both the Allahabad High Court and the Supreme Court on behalf of the legal team representing Ram Lalla Virajman, culminating in the landmark Supreme Court verdict in favour of the temple.

First CEO Arrives in Ayodhya

Air Marshal (Retd) Jeetendra Mishra arrived in Ayodhya on Thursday following his appointment as the Trust's inaugural CEO. Speaking to reporters, Mishra said he would need time to formally assume charge before unveiling detailed plans for temple administration. 'I have reached Ayodhya for the first time after being given this responsibility. Give me some time to take over. I will share the complete plan with you,' he said.

Mishra, a former Indian Air Force (IAF) officer who served during Operation Sindoor, expressed deep gratitude for the appointment. 'My heart is filled with gratitude. I consider myself the most fortunate person today to have been given this responsibility twice in my life — once to serve the nation and now to serve Lord Ram, the temple and its devotees through its organisation and administration,' he said.

Significance of the Appointments

The induction of a full-time CEO marks a structural shift in how the Ram Temple Trust intends to manage one of India's most visited religious sites. Since the Prana Pratishtha consecration ceremony in January 2024, the temple has drawn millions of pilgrims, placing mounting administrative and logistical demands on the Trust. The appointment of a senior former military officer as CEO signals a move toward professionalised, disciplined management of temple operations.

Notably, the filling of three trustee vacancies simultaneously suggests the Trust is consolidating its governance structure ahead of a period of expanded activity and infrastructure development at the Ayodhya complex.

With the new leadership team now in place, the Trust is expected to outline a roadmap for pilgrim facilities, crowd management, and infrastructure upgrades in the coming weeks. All eyes will be on Air Marshal Mishra's first formal address once he formally assumes charge of the CEO role.
