Following the puja in Hyderabad, Revanth Reddy travelled to his native village Kondareddipalle in Nagarkurnool district to join Dussehra festivities. According to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), villagers extended a warm welcome to the CM with the rhythmic beats of traditional drums known as dappulu, large garlands, and showers of flowers. MLAs, MLCs, local public representatives, senior officials, and residents gathered to greet him.
Temple Prayers and Jammi Chettu Puja
The Chief Minister, accompanied by his family members, offered special prayers at the Anjaneya Swamy Temple and the Kota Maisamma Temple in Kondareddipalle. As part of the Dussehra celebrations, he also participated in the 'Jammi Chettu' (Jammi tree) Puja — a traditional Telangana ritual observed on the occasion.
CM Highlights Telangana's Unique Dussehra Tradition
In his Dussehra message, Revanth Reddy drew attention to a distinctive Telangana custom — worshipping the Jammi tree and exchanging its leaves, regarded symbolically as 'gold', with elders to seek their blessings. The Chief Minister noted that this custom serves as a reminder to cherish nature and respect one's elders.
In a social media post, the Chief Minister described Kondareddipalli as 'a powerful land that served as a monumental source of inspiration' on his journey from an ordinary individual to the Chief Ministership. 'Celebrating the auspicious festival of Dussehra with my family members in Kondareddipalli. Praying to Lord Anjaneyaswamy of Kondareddipalli to bestow His blessings upon all, ensuring prosperity and well-being for the people of the state,' he wrote. The Chief Minister added that it brought him 'immense joy to celebrate the festival of Dussehra on the very soil' where he was born.
The celebrations underscore the significance of Vijayadashami as both a religious and cultural milestone across Telangana, with public figures participating in rituals that connect communities to regional traditions.
