Kolkata, Nov 26 (NationPress) Six youths have been taken into custody in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal for their alleged involvement in the gang-rape of a minor girl and for filming another girl in a state of undress, as reported by the police on Wednesday.

The arrests occurred on Tuesday night, five days following the incident in the Narendrapur locality.

The complaint, lodged at the Narendrapur police station, indicates that on November 20, two Class 8 female students visited a nearby roadside shop for snacks. Two familiar young men arrived on a bike and offered to take the girls for a ride. After aimlessly wandering, they were taken to a local garage and subsequently to a friend's house, where no adults were present.

As the girls sought to leave, they were persuaded to stay longer. Ultimately, a group of six young men congregated at the house, where one girl was raped under duress, while the other escaped the same fate due to her menstruation.

The victim's complaint states that four youths sexually assaulted her, while two others harassed her friend. Although the latter was menstruating and not raped, she was compelled to remove her clothing, and they recorded her naked.

According to police reports, the girls returned home the night of November 20, and the next day, one of the families filed a complaint. Since then, the police initiated a search for the perpetrators, leading to the apprehension of some suspects on Tuesday night, followed by the arrest of additional individuals.

A senior officer from the Baruipur police district confirmed, “A total of six individuals have been arrested for gang-raping a minor and recording another girl, based on the victim's complaint.” The accused will be presented before a local court in Baruipur, with police seeking custody for further investigation.
