Seoul, July 2 (NationPress) A special prosecutor is currently probing the actions of South Korea's former President Yoon Suk Yeol regarding his unsuccessful effort to enforce martial law. On Wednesday, former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and Industry Minister Ahn Duk-geun were summoned as part of an expanding investigation targeting members of the Cabinet during the martial law declaration.
Special counsel Cho Eun-suk is assessing whether Yoon misused his authority or if members of his Cabinet aided in the flawed martial law attempt that took place on December 3 last year, when the former president declared martial law.
Both Han and Ahn attended their questioning earlier in the day but chose not to respond to reporters as they arrived at the special counsel's office, according to Yonhap news agency.
Cho's investigation extends to allegations regarding a document related to the martial law declaration that was allegedly drafted immediately following Yoon's announcement.
Han is said to have signed this document, which was prepared by Kang Eui-gu, a former secretary in the presidential office, but later sought to have it destroyed.
This questioning occurs as Yoon's legal team has indicated that the former president is set to appear for a second round of questioning by the special counsel team on Saturday.
Yoon has agreed to the summons from Cho Eun-suk and will present himself at his office at 9 a.m. on Saturday, retracting a previous request to delay his appearance until 10 a.m., as confirmed by his lawyers.
