New Delhi, Sep 24 (NationPress) Numerous criminal allegations have been lodged against Swami Chaitanyanand Saraswati, also known as Parth Sarathy, who is accused of sexually assaulting various students in Delhi, as disclosed by the police on Wednesday.
Officials stated that the accused, Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, holds a prominent position as the director of the renowned Sri Sharda Institute of Indian Management located in the affluent Vasant Kunj area of Delhi.
He is currently embroiled in a police investigation for allegedly targeting students benefiting from scholarships under the economically weaker sections (EWS) category in post-graduate management diploma programs.
A fraud and molestation case was initially reported in 2009 in Delhi's Defence Colony. In 2016, a woman filed another molestation complaint in Vasant Kunj, prompting an FIR to be filed at the Vasant Kunj North police station.
Currently, investigators have indicated that at least 17 out of 32 female students who provided statements have accused Chaitanyananda of sexual harassment.
The complaints comprise allegations including abusive language, inappropriate text messages, and instances of unwarranted physical contact, as reported by the police.
Moreover, the victims stated that they faced pressure from female faculty and administrative staff to acquiesce to the accused's demands. Many students also claimed that the wardens at the ashram introduced them to him, according to the police statement.
Authorities further disclosed that the accused was found operating a luxurious Volvo car adorned with a counterfeit United Nations number plate (39 UN 1).
Investigations confirmed that the number plate was not issued by the UN, having been fabricated by Chaitanyananda himself. The vehicle has since been confiscated.
A case of sexual harassment and other pertinent charges has been officially registered against Swami Chaitanyananda, as confirmed by Amit Goyal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South-West District.
He added that the accused has been untraceable since the filing of the case.
Police teams have scrutinized CCTV footage and undertaken several raids at both the crime scene and the residence of the accused. Yet, Chaitanyananda remains elusive.
Ongoing investigations are in progress, with more details anticipated.
