Is the Common Man's Voice Being Silenced by the Mahayuti Government?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Thane, Jan 12 (NationPress) Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray has made a vigorous statement against the ruling Mahayuti administration, accusing them of extensive corruption and a deliberate effort to muffle the voices of ordinary citizens. This declaration was made during a rally organized prior to the municipal elections for 29 corporations, including Mumbai and Thane, set to occur on January 15.
Speaking to a large audience alongside Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray, Uddhav highlighted accusations of financial manipulation within the electoral process and commended candidates who turned down bribes to change allegiance.
“Raj introduced two candidates today who were offered Rs 5 crore each. There’s also Jyoti Tai, who rejected such bribes. If they hadn't declined, we might never have realized the magnitude of this corruption. They played their part; now, it’s up to you to decide what to do with these ‘crore-heavy’ temptations,” he remarked.
He further alleged that in the Kalyan-Dombivli area, especially in Ward No. 29, cash-filled envelopes were being distributed directly to homes.
“The elections are concluded, and the ‘appointments’ have started,” he stated, accusing the ruling party of purchasing seats instead of winning them.
Uddhav Thackeray criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, arguing that the government had become “outsourced” to corporate entities.
In response to criticism regarding collaboration with Raj Thackeray, he clarified: “We didn’t unite for seat-sharing; we united to awaken the Marathi community.”
On the topic of language, he asserted that his position was not against other languages but rather against “intimidation.”
“Marathi is our mother, and Hindi is our maternal aunt,” he noted.
He also criticized a defector for allegedly disrespecting the “motherland,” questioning their bravery and loyalty.
Uddhav took a jab at Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat for his recent comments regarding population growth.
“Mohan Bhagwat says to increase family size. That’s fine, but how many jobs can you provide for them?” he challenged.
Uddhav reflected on the connection his late father, Balasaheb Thackeray, had with Thane and reminisced about the 2012 elections.
He recounted that despite his declining health, Balasaheb insisted on holding a rally in Thane, referring to the city as “Maze Thane” (My Thane).
