Speaker Vijender Gupta said the route was deliberate: it traces India's passage from the struggle for freedom to the establishment of constitutional governance, encapsulating the democratic values that guide the state's institutions.

'The Tricolour is not merely our national flag; it is the living heartbeat of our democracy and the sacred thread connecting every Indian to the ideals of our Constitution,' Gupta said. He added that the Delhi Assembly, as the temple of democracy in the national capital, carries a solemn responsibility to uphold justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity for all citizens.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta described the Tricolour as more than a national symbol — calling it 'a symbol of our civilisation's pride, a memory of the penance and sacrifices of our freedom fighters, and the unity of 140 crore Indians.' She stressed that Independence Day must go beyond flag-hoisting and translate into a renewed civic pledge.

'Just as the people of our nation fought unitedly to achieve freedom, every citizen must now contribute with the same spirit to make Delhi clean, beautiful, and green,' she said. Rekha Gupta emphasised that connecting with the Tricolour means strengthening one's sense of duty and commitment to national unity.

Ministers and Officials Present

Several Delhi Cabinet ministers attended the event, including Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Pankaj Kumar Singh, and Ravinder Indraj Singh. Chief Whip Abhay Verma was also present. The gathering underscored cross-institutional participation in the Independence Day observance.
