He expressed optimism that the seasoned leader would persist in guiding party members and the state for many more years.
State BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra claimed that the accolades for serving four terms as Chief Minister and fostering leadership that produced multiple Chief Ministers in Karnataka belong to Yediyurappa.
Vijayendra noted that Yediyurappa, who hails from Bookanakere in the Mandya district and has made Shikaripura his karmabhoomi, has been an MLA for eight consecutive terms, served as a Member of Parliament, and acted as Leader of the Opposition. He stated that it was the voters of Shikaripura who first introduced Yediyurappa to the state and the nation.
He further highlighted that leaders from over 70 communities who acknowledged Yediyurappa's leadership and aided his ascent were honored on stage during the event. Vijayendra noted that Yediyurappa has consistently advocated for the underprivileged, farmers, laborers, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other societal sectors during his tenure as Leader of the Opposition.
He added that Yediyurappa's four-term tenure as Chief Minister is attributed to the dedication of thousands of party workers, the blessings of spiritual leaders, and the unwavering support from the state's populace.
Vijayendra stated that Yediyurappa has worked to deliver justice to marginalized communities throughout his time as Chief Minister and has remained devoted to farmers' welfare. He pointed out that Yediyurappa was the only Chief Minister in the state's history to take an oath in the name of farmers.
Former Deputy Chief Minister and MP Govind Karjol announced plans for a larger celebration in May to honor Yediyurappa, expecting participation from notable figures across the state.
Karjol acknowledged that Yediyurappa has dedicated over 50 years to public service, holding the position of Chief Minister and other significant roles, making substantial contributions to the state's growth.
He mentioned that Yediyurappa has rolled out multiple welfare schemes for farmers and promoted girls' education by establishing residential schools. He also referenced the Bhagyalakshmi bond scheme, designed to support girl children.
Karjol added that Yediyurappa introduced incentives for milk production to assist farmers and bolster the rural economy.
Wishing him a long life, Karjol expressed hopes that Yediyurappa, who celebrated his 84th birthday on Thursday, would be blessed with good health and continue to lead society for many more years.
