New Delhi, Feb 28 (NationPress) The government has introduced the Aadhaar Good Governance portal to enhance the approval process for authentication requests.

This initiative aligns with the goal of making Aadhaar more user-friendly, improving the ease of living, and ensuring better access to services for citizens, as stated by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

S. Krishnan, Secretary of MeitY, mentioned that the launch of this platform, along with ongoing improvements to related processes and systems, aims to expedite the incorporation of additional use cases in the realm of good governance and ease of living.

Bhuvnesh Kumar, CEO of UIDAI, pointed out that Aadhaar plays a crucial role in the advancement of India’s digital economy.

He emphasized that Aadhaar acts as an enabler of good governance, with a strong focus on resident-centric services by UIDAI.

“The Aadhaar Good Governance portal has been designed to simplify the submission and approval of proposals by various entities in line with established regulations,” Kumar remarked.

Aadhaar is recognized as the most reliable digital identity globally. Over the past decade, more than a billion Indians have shown their trust in Aadhaar by utilizing it for authentication over 100 billion times.

The expansion of Aadhaar authentication, as outlined in the amendment, will further enhance the ease of living and provide hassle-free access to a broader range of services.

This amendment permits both government and non-government entities to utilize Aadhaar authentication services for delivering various public-interest services aimed at fostering innovation, disseminating knowledge, promoting residents' ease of living, and improving access to services.

This will benefit both service providers and seekers by ensuring trustworthy transactions, according to the ministry.

The portal will serve as a comprehensive resource, offering detailed SOPs for entities seeking authentication on how to apply and onboard for Aadhaar authentication. Additionally, Face Authentication may be integrated into the customer-facing applications of private entities, facilitating authentication anytime and anywhere.

In line with its commitment to make Aadhaar user-friendly and enhance citizens' access to services, the Ministry has proposed regulations to allow Aadhaar authentication by entities beyond government ministries and departments.

The new amendment enables Aadhaar number holders to access seamless services across various sectors, including hospitality, healthcare, credit rating agencies, e-commerce, educational institutions, and aggregator service providers. Service providers will also find it beneficial for numerous applications, such as staff attendance, customer onboarding, e-KYC verification, and exam registrations.
