The Adani Foundation has been actively working in Kutch and surrounding areas to empower women and foster their self-sufficiency. By offering essential support and guidance while facilitating skills development and entrepreneurial avenues, it seeks to improve their socio-economic status and promote their financial autonomy.
Reaffirming its commitment to establishing a gender-inclusive workforce and society, the Foundation celebrated the collective strength of over 614 women employed at Adani Solar on this occasion.
The Foundation has been pivotal in mobilizing, motivating, and mentoring women to pursue careers at Adani Solar across various job roles, including technical associates, engineering positions, Human Resources (HR), and roles in manufacturing and production departments. Additionally, the Foundation has empowered over 850 women to achieve self-reliance by enhancing their entrepreneurial capabilities.
The Commissioner of Rural Development for Gujarat, Manisha Chandra, extended her congratulations on this occasion. In a recorded video message, the IAS officer praised the Foundation’s efforts towards creating an inclusive workforce, stating, “It’s a matter of great pride to see women breaking stereotypes and becoming financially independent. Such initiatives uplift women at the grassroots level and inspire future generations.”
Also in attendance at the event was Ami Shah, the Director of Adani Public School, Mundra, along with other esteemed guests.
During the event, Pankti Shah, the CSR Head for Gujarat at Adani Foundation, highlighted the shared responsibility of society in fostering gender equality. 'For women to genuinely thrive, support from family, community, and the corporate sector is crucial. When women are empowered to balance their professional and personal lives, they not only excel in their careers but also drive positive change within their families and the broader community,' she remarked.
At its business unit, Adani Solar has established dedicated facilities for women employees, demonstrating its commitment to promoting gender inclusivity in the workplace. These facilities include locker rooms, canteens, pink toilets, and transportation services with security personnel, ensuring the comfort and safety of women at work.
Sharing her personal journey, Adani Solar Technical Associate Gadhavi Sonal Ram expressed, 'Today, I am financially independent and capable of supporting my family, which feels like a dream realized. Previously, it was unimaginable for girls in my community to seek employment due to a lack of safe transportation. However, with Adani Solar’s dedicated transport service, I can commute to my workplace comfortably, with my family assured of my safety.'
For nearly 30 years, the Adani Foundation has been committed to empowering women across the nation through various targeted interventions, as part of its Butterfly Effect framework. This innovative framework has been tailored to meet the evolving needs of women throughout their lives, from infancy to old age, according to a statement from the Adani Foundation.
With a strong emphasis on facilitating economic activity, the Foundation is catalyzing change for women in key areas such as education, healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, entrepreneurship, and community development initiatives that enable them to make informed choices for themselves and their families.
Through its dedicated initiatives, the Foundation has positively impacted the lives of over two million girls and women nationwide, as noted in the statement.
