New Delhi, July 1 (NationPress) Digital India has transcended being just a government initiative; it has evolved into a nationwide movement, stated Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday.
In a message on X, she emphasized that 'Digital India' plays a pivotal role in establishing an 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and positioning India as a reliable innovation ally globally.
“By extending internet connectivity to the most remote areas and providing online access to government services, the 'Digital India' initiative, championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has effectively narrowed the digital gap throughout the nation,” the Finance Minister remarked as the ‘Digital India’ initiative celebrated its 10th anniversary.
“Scan. Pay. Done. The UPI revolution in India facilitates nearly half of the global real-time digital transactions,” she added.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal noted that with programs like UPI, DBT, GeM, ONDC, SVAMITVA, and others, the country is progressing from digital governance to a position of global digital leadership.

In a LinkedIn post, the Prime Minister reiterated that 'Digital India' is essential for fostering an 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and establishing India as a trusted partner in innovation worldwide.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi remarked that ‘Digital India’ has transformed agriculture through eNAM, allowing farmers to directly connect with buyers nationwide.
“With ₹4 lakh crore in trade and 1.7 crore farmers empowered across 1,400+ mandis, the impact is substantial. This is a bold advancement under the visionary leadership of PM Modi,” he posted on X.
