New Delhi, May 21 (NationPress) The Gemini app has officially surpassed 400 million monthly active users, demonstrating significant growth and engagement, particularly with the 2.5 series of AI models, as stated by Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google and Alphabet.
Currently, over seven million developers are utilizing Gemini, which is a fivefold increase compared to the same period last year. Usage of Gemini on Vertex AI has surged by 40 times, according to Pichai during the 'Google I/O 2025' conference held in the US.
He revealed that users of 2.5 Pro in the Gemini app have experienced a 45 percent increase in usage.
Last year, we processed 9.7 trillion tokens monthly across our products and APIs. Now, that number has skyrocketed to over 480 trillion — a staggering increase of 50 times, Pichai noted.
This progress signifies that we have entered a new phase of the AI platform shift, where years of research are becoming a reality for individuals, businesses, and communities worldwide.
Since its launch last year, AI Overviews have expanded to over 1.5 billion users across 200 countries and territories.
In major markets like the U.S. and India, AI Overviews are contributing to over 10 percent growth in queries that incorporate them, with growth trends increasing over time. For users seeking a comprehensive AI Search experience, an all-new AI Mode is being introduced,” Pichai announced.
This marks a complete reimagining of Search. With enhanced reasoning capabilities, users can now pose longer and more intricate queries. Preliminary testers have been crafting queries that are two to three times the length of conventional searches, allowing for more extensive follow-up questions.
“I’m thrilled to announce that AI Mode will be available to everyone in the U.S. starting today (Tuesday U.S. time). With our latest Gemini models, we guarantee that our AI responses meet the quality and accuracy expected from Search and are the fastest in the industry. Additionally, the Gemini 2.5 will also be integrated into Search in the U.S. this week,” he added.
The company aims to enhance 2.5 Pro with a new reasoning mode known as Deep Think, utilizing cutting-edge research in thinking and reasoning, including parallel thinking techniques.
