New Delhi, Sep 24 (NationPress) The startup accelerator platform WaveX is set to launch seven new incubation centers throughout India, as announced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Wednesday.

These centers are aimed at nurturing startups focused on animation, visual effects, gaming, comics (AVGC), and extended reality (XR).

New facilities will be located at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication campuses in Delhi, Jammu, Dhenkanal (Odisha), Kottayam (Kerala), and Amravati (Maharashtra), along with the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune and the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute in Kolkata.

This initiative adds to the existing facility at the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) in Mumbai.

The centers will provide startups access to cutting-edge production, post-production, and game development tools via IICT, FTII, SRFTI, and other partner incubators.

The Ministry has stated that each center will select 15 startups for their inaugural cohort.

Monthly fees are set at Rs 8,500 plus GST, prioritizing ventures in media, entertainment, AVGC, and XR.

These facilities empower startups to create, develop, and validate content in film, gaming, and immersive media to meet global standards, according to the Ministry.

The flagship IICT Incubator in Mumbai boasts world-class infrastructure and high-end equipment, including an 8K Red Raptor Vista Vision camera, a 4K HDR preview theatre with Dolby Atmos, high-performance Alienware workstations, a state-of-the-art virtual production stage with LED walls, photogrammetry systems, professional sound and color-mix theatres, 4K HDR edit suites, VR testing kits, and the latest gaming consoles.

Startups can utilize resources both on-site and through digital platforms.

Additionally, selected startups will gain access to incubation facilities, industry connections, government networks (central and state), funding assistance, sales, and marketing mentorship, among other support.

Applications are now open at wavex.wavesbazaar.com.

Point of View

I strongly believe that the establishment of these incubation centers by WaveX will significantly enhance the startup landscape in India. By focusing on the AVGC and XR sectors, the government is fostering innovation and creativity, supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs in a rapidly evolving digital economy.
