Vadodara, March 23 (NationPress) The count of Indian startups is projected to grow from 1.2 lakh to 2.4 lakh by 2030, resulting in the creation of 50 million new jobs, as stated by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary, during a recent event.
This growth will encompass direct white-collar positions, opportunities in the gig economy, and indirect jobs across various sectors.
To facilitate this growth, the government has introduced a Rs 60,000 crore initiative aimed at upgrading Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) to ensure that young individuals acquire the essential skills required by the industry.
Speaking at the 3rd Annual Technical Festival “EPITOME 2025” of Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya in Vadodara via video conference, the Minister emphasized that in today's knowledge-based economy, possessing the right skill set is vital not only for personal success but also for national advancement.
There is a pressing demand for a well-trained workforce and a curriculum that incorporates apprenticeships to address the skill gap in India.
The Minister noted that industries like railways, aviation, and logistics are highly technical and necessitate skilled professionals.
He highlighted that effective collaboration among industry, academia, and the government is crucial to enhance efficiency and productivity in these key sectors.
“By joining forces, institutions can prepare young professionals with skills relevant to the industry and equip them for future career openings,” Chaudhary stated.
He also addressed the increasing significance of logistics efficiency in fostering economic growth.
“Transportation is fundamentally about acceleration, which drives growth. The future of logistics is expected to be both green and digital, with AI-driven predictive maintenance as a significant contributor,” he remarked.
Chaudhary pointed out that the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan is paving the way for new opportunities in multimodal logistics, aviation, and maritime sectors.
India's investments in these domains are unlocking global career paths for the youth, making skill development crucial for the nation's progress.
During the event, the Minister commended Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya for its industry-oriented strategy and suggested that the university collaborate with National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs) to bolster reskilling and upskilling initiatives.
