Bengaluru, Feb 13 (NationPress) India’s employment landscape is witnessing significant advancement, with white-collar hiring increasing by 9 percent over the past three months, as reported on Thursday.
The report from foundit (previously Monster APAC & ME), a platform dedicated to jobs and talent, highlighted that green jobs—which aim to protect or restore the environment—are a standout feature, experiencing a notable 41 percent growth over the last two years, propelled by the rise of clean energy projects.
Industries such as semiconductors, energy, and waste management are spearheading this expansion, driven by global net-zero emission goals.
Bengaluru, Delhi, and Pune have emerged as primary hubs for these positions. The demand for green jobs is anticipated to see another 11 percent increase by 2025, fueled by initiatives in renewable energy, electric vehicles (EVs), and green hydrogen.
Additionally, the report indicates that sectors like travel and tourism, retail, and automotive are also enjoying double-digit increases in hiring. Favorable economic conditions, changing industry requirements, and government support—especially in digital training and startup development—are propelling this upward trajectory and fostering a future-ready workforce.
“India’s employment market is on a strong growth path, with hiring rising across crucial sectors. Industries such as travel, retail, and green jobs are experiencing sustained growth, reflecting business confidence and shifting industry focuses,” stated Pranay Kale, Chief Revenue & Growth Officer at foundit.
“Green jobs have notably expanded by 41 percent over the past two years, spurred by sustainability efforts and investments in clean energy. Government initiatives, including strategic budget allocations, are fast-tracking this transition—particularly in renewable energy, EVs, and sustainability-centric sectors,” he added.
The report further reveals a 32 percent year-on-year increase in hiring for January 2025, indicating renewed optimism in the market.
Key factors driving this growth include rising consumer demand, strategic incentives outlined in the Union Budget 2025, and a heightened emphasis on sustainability initiatives.
Bengaluru leads the green job sector, representing 23 percent of available positions, followed by the Delhi NCR region at 17 percent. Pune and Mumbai each account for 14 percent, while Chennai, Jaipur, and Hyderabad also play vital roles in this sector.
“As recruitment expands beyond metropolitan areas, Tier-2 cities are becoming vital employment hubs, reinforcing India’s shift towards a future-ready, greener economy,” Kale noted.
