New Delhi, June 9 (NationPress) In a significant statement, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh noted that numerous nations are currently looking to India to navigate the complexities of global challenges. Speaking during the United Nations Ocean Conference, which sees participation from over 150 countries, Dr Singh highlighted that during the past two days, he and his fellow Indian delegates have recognized the substantial expectations that other nations have from India.
Dr Singh linked this shift in perception to the transformation regarding India's capabilities over the last 11 years, largely due to decisive actions taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the stability of his government throughout this period.
“It is a remarkable coincidence that as the Modi government marks its 11 years in power, we are experiencing a significant surge in enthusiasm among representatives from other member states who wish to benefit from India's potential and resources,” remarked Singh.
Regarding ocean-related challenges, India has emerged as a frontrunner in addressing these issues.
India was one of the first nations to officially outlaw single-use plastics, and our Deep Ocean Mission is advancing in close partnership with the space agency ISRO and other research and technical institutions across the country.
Dr Singh elaborated that ocean-related issues require a collaborative approach since approximately 70% of the planet's surface is covered by oceans, which do not recognize political or geographical boundaries.
He emphasized that ocean challenges primarily fall into two categories: those arising directly from the oceans, such as global warming resulting in rising ocean temperatures and levels, and those related to ocean pollution from oil spills and plastics, among others.
