The flights will be operated using IndiGo's modern A320neo aircraft, promising an affordable, convenient, and comfortable travel experience.
“After successfully resuming our Kolkata–Guangzhou flights, we are thrilled to broaden IndiGo's footprint in China with this new daily service from Delhi. This route originating from the Indian Capital and our primary domestic hub will enhance travel options and promote economic and cultural exchange between the two nations,” stated Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo.
The route will also connect Guangzhou to IndiGo’s extensive domestic network of over 90 destinations, providing Chinese travelers access to various locations across India.
“We express our gratitude to both governments for their backing in reinstating these connections, which unveil vast opportunities for trade, tourism, and collaboration. As we continue our international expansion, we remain committed to establishing strategic air corridors that promote deeper regional connectivity and unlock new growth avenues,” added Elbers.
Additionally, IndiGo and China Southern Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Tuesday to create a codeshare partnership and mutual cooperation agreement.
This collaboration will enable China Southern Airlines to enhance connectivity into India, while IndiGo customers can access the extensive network of China Southern Airlines beyond Guangzhou.
This partnership is pending regulatory approvals.
The aim is to provide improved travel options and integrated travel itineraries for passengers journeying between India and China via both airlines' joint network, along with a seamless check-in process among other benefits.
“China Southern Airlines recognizes the developmental potential of the Indian market. By collaborating with IndiGo, we can leverage each other's strengths, offer a broader array of travel products, and inject fresh momentum into the economic, cultural, and aviation exchanges between our countries,” remarked Han Wensheng, President and CEO of China Southern Airlines.
