New Delhi, July 19 (NationPress) The integration of Industry 4.0 into the assessment framework of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) is under consideration, with the government emphasizing that swift adoption will be crucial for improving global competitiveness.

In a strategic initiative aimed at promoting innovation and intelligent manufacturing, the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), under the Ministry of Finance, conducted a workshop focused on Industry 4.0. This event convened experts, policymakers, and CPSE leadership to explore strategies for the adoption and expansion of Industry 4.0 technologies across diverse sectors including Energy, Power, Construction, Infrastructure, Telecom, and Services.

K. Moses Chalai, Secretary of the DPE, highlighted the necessity of adopting the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) as a national imperative.

During his remarks, Chalai advocated for a “Whole-of-CPSEs” (WoC) approach, akin to the “Whole-of-Government” framework, urging all CPSEs to collaboratively integrate 4IR enablers such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Digital Twins, 3D Printing, and 5G-enabled smart infrastructure into their operations.

As part of the expert presentations at the workshop, A. Anand, a deployment specialist, shared valuable insights from his experience in the application and field deployment of Digital Designing, Reverse Engineering, and 3D Printing across various industry verticals, drawing from India's pioneering 5G Labs and 3D Printing Centres of Excellence.

Dr. Prabhjot Singh Sugga, an Associate Professor at SPA, emphasized the transformative capabilities of Digital Twin platforms in areas such as infrastructure management, plant operations, and disaster resilience. Additionally, Vidushi Chaturvedi, an AI expert, discussed the utilization of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for predictive analytics, resource optimization, and informed decision-making.

The DPE reaffirmed its dedication to assisting CPSEs in harnessing Industry 4.0 technologies to achieve operational excellence and sustainable growth.

This workshop represents a pivotal step towards realizing this vision through collaborative efforts and strategic implementation within the CPSE ecosystem, as stated by the government.

Point of View

The integration of Industry 4.0 technologies within CPSEs is not just a trend but a necessary evolution for India’s industrial landscape. Emphasizing collaboration and innovation, the government’s approach aims to position India as a leader in global competitiveness, ensuring that CPSEs remain relevant in a rapidly changing market.
