New Delhi, June 4 (NationPress) More than 73 percent of professionals in India are optimistic about maintaining their jobs this year, marking an 11-point rise from the previous year, according to a report released on Wednesday.
Among professionals in tier 1 cities, 31 percent feel ‘extremely confident’ about job security, in contrast to 18 percent in tier 2 cities.
A notable 85 percent of professionals working in large firms with over 5,000 employees express job retention confidence, while this figure declines to 58 percent for those in smaller companies with fewer than 50 employees, as detailed in the report by Great Learning, a prominent global edtech firm.
As the job market evolves with advancements in AI and automation, professionals are increasingly showing a readiness to adapt.
Currently, 78 percent of professionals have a positive perspective on AI's influence on their careers.
Interestingly, graduates with MBAs and B.Com degrees display greater optimism (at 89 percent and 84 percent, respectively) compared to their B.E/B.Tech counterparts.
This trend is likely influenced by recent developments in India’s IT sector, where many major employers have curtailed hiring in response to rising AI integration.
This shift has led to extensive discussions about AI's impact on technology careers, affecting the outlook of professionals holding tech degrees, according to the report.
For FY 2026, 85 percent of professionals acknowledge the significance of upskilling to secure their futures, up from 79 percent the previous year. The desire to upskill remains robust, with 81 percent planning to invest in acquiring new technical competencies this year, as noted in the report.
Professionals in tier 1 cities are particularly driven, with 46 percent rating upskilling as ‘extremely important,’ compared to 26 percent in tier 2 cities.
“AI is a revolutionary force transforming the contemporary workplace. While it poses challenges, it also creates opportunities for those willing to learn and adapt,” stated Hari Krishnan Nair, Co-Founder of Great Learning.
