New Delhi, Oct 10 (NationPress) The mutual fund sector has continued to show robust growth in September, with total assets climbing to Rs 75.61 lakh crore, even amidst temporary outflows caused by advance tax payments, stated Venkat N Chalasani, Chief Executive of the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), on Friday.

Equity funds have enjoyed positive inflows for the 55th consecutive month, showcasing investors’ confidence in equities as a reliable long-term asset class.

“SIPs have achieved a remarkable milestone with a record monthly contribution of Rs 29,361 crore and 9.25 crore active accounts, reflecting the increasing tendency of retail investors towards disciplined and systematic investing,” Chalasani mentioned in a statement.

The addition of over 30 lakh new folios, pushing the total beyond 25 crore, emphasizes the expanding reach and trust in mutual funds as essential tools for wealth creation.

“Our industry remains dedicated to enhancing investor awareness and boosting participation across India’s varied investor landscape,” he added.

The mutual fund industry’s Net AUM was reported at Rs 75,61,309.29 crore for September, compared to Rs 75,18,702.50 crore in August 2025.

As of September, mutual fund folios totaled 25,19,23,162, with 30,13,738 folios added during the month. Last month, folios stood at 24,89,09,424.

Retail MF folios (including equity, hybrid, and solution-oriented schemes) reached 19,80,54,156 in September, up from 19,64,01,310 in August 2025.

Inflows for growth/equity-oriented schemes totaled Rs 30,421.69 crore for the month.

In addition, SIP AUM climbed to Rs 15,52,303 crore for September 2025, representing 20.2% of the total mutual fund industry assets. SIP contributions for this month were recorded at Rs 29,360.66 crore.

The number of contributing SIP accounts stood at 9,25,21,155 in September 2025. During this month, 9 schemes were launched, all open-ended and spanning various categories, raising a total of Rs 1,959 crore.
