New Delhi, June 26 (NationPress) The state-owned energy giant NTPC declared on Thursday that its 3,300 MW Barh Super Thermal Power Project in Bihar will officially commence full commercial operations from July 1.

This announcement follows the activation of the last unit in Stage I, Unit 3, which has a capacity of 660 MW and is poised to start supplying power.

According to Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, the company noted that Unit 3 (660 MW) of the Barh Super Thermal Power Project, Stage-I (3x660 MW) will be recognized as operational starting at 00:00 Hrs on 01.07.2025, as stated in their filing with the stock exchange.

“With this addition, NTPC’s total installed commercial capacity will reach 60,978 MW on a standalone basis and 82,080 MW on a group basis,” the statement continued.

The Barh project consists of five units, each rated at 660 MW, categorized into two stages. Stage I comprises three units, while Stage II contains two.

With the readiness of Unit 3 for commercial operation, all five units of the project will now be operational.

The first four units were commissioned over the past years, with Units 1 and 2 coming online in November 2021 and July 2023.

Stage II units, Unit 4 and Unit 5, were commissioned in November 2014 and February 2016, respectively.

As per NTPC's regulatory update, Unit 3 (660 MW) from the Barh Super Thermal Power Project, Stage I, is set to officially commence commercial activities from July 1.
