New Delhi, Nov 19 (NationPress) Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized on Wednesday that India's evolving defence manufacturing landscape signifies the nation's swift progress towards achieving the status of a developed country by 2047.
While touring the Defence Pavilion at the 44th India International Trade Fair (IITF), Goyal remarked that the technological advancements exhibited demonstrate how quickly India is enhancing its domestic capabilities.
“These remarkable achievements and growing strengths of India illustrate that the country is on a fast track to becoming a developed India by 2047 under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he shared with IANS.
Goyal highlighted the evolution within India's defence sector over the last ten years, pointing out that the nation has transitioned from being a significant importer of defence technology to now emerging as an exporter.
“It fills me with immense pride to witness India becoming self-sufficient in defence. Defensive armaments are being produced right here in India. I commend the efforts of our talented officers, engineers, scientists, and innovators,” he stated, acknowledging PM Modi's role in catalyzing this transformation.
Encouraging the youth of India to engage more actively in defence innovation, the minister asserted that increased participation in research and development will fortify the nation and enhance its security.
The Defence Pavilion, recently inaugurated by Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth and Union MoS for Commerce, Industry, Electronics, and IT Jitin Prasada, showcases 16 Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) alongside startups that are part of the Innovation for Defence Excellence (iDEX) initiative.
As per the Ministry of Defence, the pavilion illustrates India’s increasing self-reliance through demonstrations of cutting-edge products and technologies across land systems, naval platforms, aerospace innovations, and emerging technological realms.
