New Delhi, Nov 11 (NationPress) The mobile application for FASTag services, Rajmargyatra, has swiftly ascended the Google Play rankings, reaching 23rd overall and second in the travel category, boasting over 15 lakh downloads, according to a government announcement made on Tuesday.
India's road network has surpassed 63 lakh kilometres, while the National Highway system has expanded to 1,46,204 km, representing a remarkable 60% increase since 2013–14, as detailed in an official statement up to March 2025.
The penetration of FASTag across the nation is about 98%, with over 8 crore users. Additionally, the FASTag Annual Pass has attracted more than 25 lakh users, accumulating approximately 5.67 crore transactions within the first two months following its launch in August, the statement noted.
With a stellar user rating of 4.5 stars, the Rajmargyatra app emerged as the top-performing government application just four days after the introduction of the FASTag Annual Pass feature, it added.
From 2014 to 2025, the country has seen the addition of 54,917 kilometres of new national highways.
Core processes encompassing planning, detailed project reports (DPR), construction, maintenance, tolling, and network upgrades are transitioning to digital platforms to improve system efficiency and facilitate business operations, according to the statement.
The government highlighted India's dedication to sustainable infrastructure, as illustrated by the Green Highways Mission and Mission Amrit Sarovar.
The NHAI has planted 56 lakh saplings in 2023–24 and 67.47 lakh in 2024–25, contributing to a total of over 4.69 crore trees planted since the Green Highways Mission's inception.
Moreover, Mission Amrit Sarovar has led to the development of 467 water bodies and provided around 2.4 crore cubic metres of soil for highway projects, saving an estimated Rs 16,690 crore.
In the fiscal year 2023–24, the NHAI utilized over 631 lakh metric tonnes of recycled materials, such as fly ash, plastic waste, and reused asphalt, in the construction of national highways.
