New Delhi, Dec 1 (NationPress) Do not pursue money directly; instead, engage in authentic value generation, advised billionaire Elon Musk during his conversation with Indian entrepreneurs on Nikhil Kamath’s People of WTF podcast.
Musk, identifying himself as a strong supporter of those who aspire to build, likened the pursuit of money to the futile chase for happiness.
"To create something of financial worth, you don't chase money. Focus on offering valuable products and services, and the financial rewards will follow naturally," Musk stated.
He emphasized that just as true happiness comes from meaningful endeavors, financial success arises from authentic value generation.
Musk urged entrepreneurs to contribute positively to society, stating, "I respect anyone aiming to give more than they take. Strive to be a net contributor to society."
He grounded his advice in realism: "Prepare to work exceptionally hard" and acknowledge the possibility of failure. "Make more than you take," he reiterated.
Musk also advocated for founders to steer clear of politics.
"Founders don’t need politics to create something significant until their company grows too large to bypass it," he said.
"Not everything requires political involvement. Once you reach a certain scale, politics will find you. It's often unpleasant," he expressed.
Reflecting on his political experiences, he noted, "My forays into politics have generally ended poorly."
"Politics is a blood sport. If you enter the political arena, they will go for the jugular. It's best to avoid politics whenever possible," Musk concluded, highlighting the inherently aggressive nature of politics.
The founder of SpaceX also discussed the future of Starlink in India.
"SpaceX is making strides with the Starlink initiative, aiming to deliver affordable, reliable internet worldwide. We are eager to expand our operations in India," Musk mentioned.
In response to Kamath’s question about Starlink’s potential in urban India, Musk clarified that Starlink is not intended to replace urban networks but serves as a revolutionary solution for remote areas, providing insight into technology, policy, and social impacts.
"Starlink is not designed to cater to densely populated cities… it might serve only 1 or 2 percent, but it can be significantly more effective in rural regions."
