New Delhi, Dec 8 (NationPress) The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has announced an extension for stakeholders to provide their feedback and counter-feedback on the recent consultation document concerning the evaluation of current interconnection regulations, as stated by the Ministry of Communications on Monday.
The consultation document was published on November 10, with initial deadlines of December 8 for comments and December 22 for counter-comments.
TRAI has acknowledged receiving numerous requests from industry groups and stakeholders who sought additional time to analyze the issues and prepare their responses.
In light of these requests, the authority has now revised the deadline for written comments to December 15 and for counter-comments to December 29.
“Considering the appeals from industry associations and stakeholders for more time to submit their feedback on the said consultation document, it has been decided to extend the final date for submission of written comments and counter-comments to December 15 and December 29, respectively,” the ministry announced.
Stakeholders can submit their inputs electronically to Sameer Gupta, Advisor (Networks, Spectrum and Licensing-I), at adv-nsll@trai.gov.in, with a copy to ja2-nsl2@trai.gov.in.

The consultation seeks to gather industry perspectives on updating interconnection regulations to align with the fast-evolving telecom technologies and market demands.
In related news, last month, the telecom regulatory authority reported taking substantial measures against spam and fraud within the telecom sector, disconnecting over 2.1 million mobile numbers and blacklisting approximately 100,000 entities in the past year.
According to the regulatory body, these actions were initiated based on complaints from citizens, and the Authority has encouraged individuals to continue reporting spam through the TRAI DND App to prevent the misuse of telecom services at the source.
TRAI noted that many users erroneously believe that simply blocking unwanted numbers on their devices suffices.
