Zoho invests ₹70 crore in ONDC to boost MSMEs and digital commerce
Zoho Corporation on Wednesday, 13 May 2025 announced an investment of ₹70 crore in the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), aimed at advancing sovereign technology development and strengthening India's digital public infrastructure. The Chennai-headquartered global technology company said the move is designed to make digital commerce more accessible and inclusive for businesses of all sizes, with a particular focus on micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Why Zoho Is Backing ONDC
According to Zoho, India's economy is heavily dependent on MSMEs, yet these businesses continue to face structural disadvantages — from limited market access to constraints imposed by conventional digital platforms that are rarely designed with their needs in mind. The investment signals Zoho's intent to align its technology philosophy with ONDC's open-network model, which it says better serves the country's vast small-business ecosystem.
