The film stars his father Amitabh Bachchan and mother Jaya Bachchan in pivotal roles.
During a recent interview, when asked, "With Sholay nearing its 50th anniversary, has it been a topic of discussion at family meals? Which stories or memories do you often revisit?" Abhishek responded, "Not particularly at home, but I've talked about it with friends. My greatest regret is that I have never seen Sholay on 70 mm."
He further expressed, "I keep urging my friend Rohan (Rohan Sippy)—we’ve collaborated on three films, and our fathers created Sholay—to remaster it, and we can go watch it at Minerva. I truly hope they re-release it for us to relive its magnificence.”
He also mentioned, “Sholay was the first film to launch an audio cassette that exclusively featured its dialogues. The quotes became so memorable that they released a separate audio for them.”

It topped the British Film Institute's 2002 poll of the "Top 10 Indian Films" of all time. The film was penned by the iconic screenwriting duo Salim-Javed and has become one of the longest-running films in Indian cinema.
